Goat Mowers

8th graders at a Detroit Enterprise School watching a goat "mow" the grass - The Freep
The Detroit Free Press on Friday September 17, 2010 had a story about goats and sheep being used instead of mowers and pesticides at a school, to prepare an area for a garden.  see article here

The goats and sheep came from a Ravenna, Michigan-based company called Goat Mowers. See link to their webpage here http://www.goatmowers.com/index.htm.  It's not cost-effective for a weekly urban lawn trim but a great idea for a larger brush clearing.

We've been needing to replace our aging lawnmower to something a little bit more environmentaly friendly.  I wonder if we could use a couple of goats in Ann Arbor?  There's an ordinance that we can keep a few chickens - how about goats?

  2. Reply: The goats look like fun. There was a 2 day minimum at $300 per day plus mileage to the house. Not the cheapest lawn mowers.
