Pepperoni Pizza Sauce Chicken Sausage Pizza |
I decided to "walk on the wild side" tonight with our Friday Night Pizza. I used Pepperoni Pizza Dip from last night's dinner, along with a piece of Italian Chicken sausage that I brought home from a recent Costco trip. Fantastic!
Pepperoni Pizza Dip left overs |
200 grams whole wheat flour
150 grams all purpose flour
1 cup water
2 tablespoons of olive oil plus a bit more for oiling the pan
1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Pepperoni Pizza Dip or pizza sauce
chunk of sausage
few handfuls of mozzarella cheese
To prepare pizza dough, combine flours, water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, yeast, Italian seasoning, salt and garlic powder. Mix with a wooden spoon than knead on the counter for a few minutes.
Add a bit of oil to a large sheet pan and add dough ball. Roll dough ball around pan to cover with oil. Flatten dough ball a bit with fingers. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Set aside to rise in a warm place for an hour.
Preheat oven to 400F.
Cut piece of sausage into slices or tiny pieces.
After an hour or so when the dough looks nice and puffy, gently use your fingers to move the dough to fit the pan.
Spread a bit of olive oil on the dough, then add the pepperoni pizza dip sauce.
Sprinkle on a bit of cheese, remembering that there is quite a bit of cheese in the sauce already. Top with sausage.
Bake in a oven for 20-25 minutes. Remove and slide onto a rack to cool for a minute before serving.
The kitchen is clean, it's Friday night - movie time.
Happy Weekend!
